Items to Bring

Brush (ink and ink stone), pencil

Regulation/Policy

1.      All contestants must arrive before 11:15.

2.      There are two categories in the Calligraphy Contest: Brush and Penmanship. Writing content will be announced on the day of contest.

3.      Contestants are responsible to bring: Brush -brush, ink, ink stone; Penmanship-#2 pencils and erasers.

4.      Paper will be provided. Contestants should make sure seating number matches with the number on the paper.

Judging Criteria:

Neatness: 30%

Strength: 20%

Size and symmetry: 20%

Overall perception: 20%

Stroke order: 10%

Miswritten or missing word will deduct one point.  Same mistake only deducts once. 10%

brushes, paint, and other painting tools, such as crayons, oil pastels, watercolors, or oil paints.  If using markers, washable markers are recommended.

Regulation/Policy

1. The contest duration is 1.5 hours.  Any participant who arrives 15 minutes late will not be able to participate.

2. Writing on the poster must be in Chinese. The theme will be announced at the beginning of the contest period. Two-dimensional artwork only; no objects can be attached to the poster.

3. Participants must bring their own brushes, paint, and other painting tools, such as crayons, oil pastels, watercolors, or oil paints.  If using markers, washable markers are recommended.

4. No electronic devices can be used during the contest.

5. TCS will supply the poster paper.  One piece of paper will be provided per contestant.

6. Do not bring any reference artwork or sketches to the contest.

7.Judging criteria: Theme 30%, Color & Design 30%, Creativity 30%, Completeness 10%

#2 pencils and erasers.

Regulation/Policy

1.      All contestants must arrive before 11:15.

2.      Contestants are responsible to bring #2 pencils and erasers.

3.      Paper will be provided. Contestants should make sure seating number matches with the number on the paper.

4.      Chinese dictionary can be used during the contest. No other books, paper, or electronic devices are allowed.

5.      Contestants may write Zhu-Yin or Pin-Yin for words that they do not know.

3.Students must bring their own drawing tools such as color pencils, crayons, pastels, etc. Washable markers are also allowed.

    Color expression (50%)

    Overall aesthetics (30%)

    Coloring technique (20%)

    Completeness of the work (10%)
